Farmers training cum Exhibition Held

Bhubaneswar,
Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar was organized training cum exhibition on horticultural interventions for tribal livelihood on Friday.
Dr.G.C.Acharya,Head of CHES (ICAR-IIHR) was emphasized on the potential of the horticultural crops in realizing higher profits and economic returns from a given farmland. He also explained about the new fruit and vegetable varieties released by ICAR-IIHR for crop diversification in eastern India.BBS
Speaking on the occasion Guest of honour Swami Bhramayoganand,Raamakrishna Mission,Chhasigarh stressed on the need for better market avenues for the horticultural and forest produce from tribal regions of Eastern India.
He called for more inter-linking among the governmental and non governmental agencies for the benefit of the tribal farmers.
Guest of Honour Titi Mallick of,Gajapati was shared his experience about the tremendous success of the horticultural interventions in the villages of Mohana Block adopted under Tribal Sub Plan by CHES(ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar.

Chief Guest of the programme Dr.P C Lenka, shared his experience about the success stories related to horticultural interventions in Odisha and elsewhere. He also appreciated the efforts of the Station for successful implementation of horticultural interventions in tribal regions of Odisha.

During the technical session Dr.P.Srinivas,Principal scientist,CHES (ICAR-IIHR) presented the various horticultural interventions being implemented in the villages of Gajapati and Rayagada districts of Odisha. Dr. Gayatri Maharana,ICAR-Central Instute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-ICAR), Dr. A. Srikant,from International Potato Centre (CIP) ,Dr. Nedunchezhian, Head RC-ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute,Bhubaneswar, Dr. Behera,from CSIR-Instute of Minerals and materials Technology,Bhubaneswar,Puspalata Panda from Prerana Trust Bhubaneswar,Mr. Ranajit Kedarnath,FPO consultant,Dr.Natabar Rout,from Vision Eco Farm shared there experience.
Over 250 tribal and rural farmers,government and non-government officials and other stakeholders were parcipated in the programme.
