National Fish feed training programme inaugurated

To train the feed production technology and feed management practices in aquaculture among fisheries faculties from different educational institutes, entrepreneurs, progressive fish farmers and students the premier fish research institute ICAR-CIFA was organised a National Training Programme on “Fish Feed Technology for Sustainable Aquaculture on Monday.cifa fish feed

While Inaugurating the five days long training programme Director CIFA Dr. B.R.Pillai was emphasized on feed mangagement which is the most critical and vital input in aquaculture as its constitutes 60-70% of the total operational cost.
She also emphasized the supplementary feeding which is essential in addition to pond fertilization.
Dr. K.N. Mohanta, Head of Fish Nutrition and Physiology Division and the Course Director was highlighted the status of fish feed and feeding scenario in the country.He also opined that establishment of more numbers of feed mills of different scale and capacity is the need of hour in order to carter the growing demand of fish feed in the country.
Dr. K.C. Das, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA and Coordinator of the training program gave the outline of the training program.
Participants from the fisheries department officials from the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana and Odisha, the fisheries faculties from different educational institutes, entrepreneurs, progressive fish farmers and students. Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA coordinated the inaugural session and proposed the vote of thanks.
