CSIR CFTRI organised Programme on Food processing and Preservation

CSIR-CFTRI Resource centre, Hyderabad has organised a one day Awareness programme on Food processing and Preservation for the benefit of 80 participants selected from different blocks of Nabarangpur District on Wednesday.
Ramakanta Nayak, Project Director, DRDA, Nabarangpur was introduced the team from CFTRI Hyderabad and briefed about the programme on Food Processing sponsored under RKVY Project for the upliftment of Nabarngpur District.
During the programme Mrs. K. Sathiyamala, Principal Scientist briefed participants on various processes, technologies developed and services offered by CSIR-CFTRI. Dr. P.G. Prabhakara Rao delivered a lecture on Fruits and vegetable processing. Mr. A. Nagender briefed about machinery aspects in food processing. All the participants were provided with a folder, pen and List of CFTRI processes available for commercialisation. During the programme high tea and lunch was served to the participants. CFTRI [2]
District Collector, DR Ajith Mishra has addressed the gathering and encouraged the participants to actively involve and utilise the opportunity to set up food processing units at Nabarangpur.
The team from CFTRI and DRDA selected 20 participants for an initial 3 day hands on Training programme scheduled during October 2019 at CSIR-CFTRI Resource Centre, Hyderabad.
During the hands on Training Programme simple processing methodologies such as Dehydration of fruits/vegetable, Pickling, Preparation of Jams and Tomato products will be demonstrated. Further, it is proposed that two hands on training programmes will be organised at Nabarangpur by 31st December, 2019.
